Sankofa Ubuntu: A New Online Training Series on Healing, Equity, and Restorative Justice
The Atlantic Equity and Research Alliance is back with something powerful—the Sankofa Ubuntu Training Series, an online workshop designed for anyone committed to healing-centered practice and community transformation.
What Is Sankofa Ubuntu?
Rooted in two African philosophies—Sankofa (looking back to move forward) and Ubuntu (“I am because we are”)—this training bridges culturally grounded wisdom with modern restorative and trauma-informed approaches. It’s not just theory; it’s a practical toolkit for people doing the real work of healing and justice in their communities.
Who Is It For?
The reach is wide and intentional. This training welcomes:
- Students and researchers exploring equity-centered frameworks
- Frontline workers—peer navigators, settlement workers, youth workers, community support staff
- Practitioners in mental health, trauma-informed care, and social services
- Restorative justice facilitators and advocates
- Educators, community leaders, and helpers of all kinds seeking practical, culturally responsive tools
In short: if your work or passion involves supporting others through trauma, storytelling, or restorative practices, this is built for you.
