Sankofa Ubuntu Training Series Successfully Brought Together Changemakers for Healing, Equity, and Restorative Justice
The Atlantic Equity and Research Alliance (AEARA) successfully hosted the Sankofa Ubuntu Training Series, an engaging online workshop that brought together community practitioners, students, researchers, and advocates committed to healing-centered practice and community transformation.
Exploring Sankofa and Ubuntu
Rooted in the African philosophies of Sankofa—looking back to move forward—and Ubuntu—“I am because we are”—the training explored how culturally grounded wisdom can be integrated with restorative, trauma-informed, and community-based approaches to healing and justice.
Participants were introduced to practical tools and frameworks that support meaningful engagement, storytelling, collective healing, and restorative practice across diverse communities.
